Marco Simoncelli (world champion 2008, lass 250 with Gilera) came into the history of motorcycling races too early. The young rider of Coriano passed away during the Gran Prix of Sepang, in Malesia on 23rd October 2011, when he was just 24 and when his star was shining brighter than the one of the other italian riders of MotoGp Rossi and Dovizioso.
A nice guy off the track, but feared by all his opponents during the heart of the race, when emerged his temperament of fighter. A very talented rider who has always had to ride beyond the limit to fill the disadvantage due to his build, a little too generous, since the days of small 125, passing to the 250 with which he won the world championship in 2008, till he arrived to a MotoGP Honda, fit for Pedrosa and Stoner.
In the wrong place at the wrong time were also Rossi and Edwards when, at Sepang, could not prevent Marco, destroying the dream of the only italian rider able to fight for the 2012 title, when the queen class will return to 1000 cc and that “little physical disadvantage” could be transformed into the Jolly of Marco.
A lone voice with his hair that made him unique, as the celebration live on TV accompanied by the notes of another Rossi ..Vasco, with “SIAMO SOLO NOI” to close the circle of life .. small or large but always perfect.
